Stefan Washietl is a co-founder and CEO of Paperpile. He holds a PhD in Genetics and Microbiology from the University of Vienna.

Always interested in the intersection of biology and computing, he worked as an active scientist in computational biology and genomics. At the Institute for Theoretical Chemistry in Vienna, the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, UK, and the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab at MIT in the US, he developed algorithms and software to analyze large-scale genomic data.

At Paperpile, he leads product and continues the goal of building exceptional software for the scientific community.
